The Living Rooms – a project with God at its centre!
The Living Rooms emerges from our vision to create a new flexible and comfortable space from which we can enhance our own discipleship and offer additional opportunity to advance the caring and sharing nature of our Christian witness and mission within the community.
The building, part of our overall church complex, was formerly our manse. It has now been converted to create a roomy and comfortable social space with a small open plan kitchen area, utility area, an office, two meeting rooms, a toilet and a disabled toilet incorporating baby change facilities. To help make the facility accessible to all, the refurbishment project included the widening of all internal doors and the construction of an external access ramp.
Whilst the project benefited from generous giving by our own church members, we were also fortunate to receive funding from The Church of Scotland General Trustees, Dundee Presbytery and Dundee City Council – Community Regeneration Fund. Recognising that God calls us to be good stewards of his provision, a significant proportion of work was progressed utilising voluntary labour provided by church members.
The Phase 1 work is complete whilst in addition we have undertaken refurbishment of the garden area in order to create a welcoming outdoor space.
